TechPro Standard Installation Guide: Access Control System
1. Site Assessment and Planning
-
Conduct a detailed survey of entry/exit points, restricted zones,
and personnel flow.
-
Identify doors requiring access control: main entry, server rooms,
storage, etc.
-
Determine system type: RFID card readers, biometric
(fingerprint/facial), PIN code, or hybrid.
-
Prepare a floor plan showing access points, control panel
locations, and cable routing.
2. Equipment Selection
-
Use access readers with tamper alerts and IP65 rating for outdoor
units.
-
Select electromagnetic or strike locks based on door type (glass,
wooden, metal).
-
Ensure controllers support required users, schedules, and logs.
3. Installation Procedure
a. Reader and Lock Mounting
- Mount readers at 1.2-1.4 meters from the ground.
-
Use vandal-resistant enclosures, especially in public areas.
-
Install locks inside the doorframe, concealed where possible.
b. Controller and Cabling
-
Install the control panel in a secure, restricted-access room.
- Run all signal and power cables through conduits.
- Use shielded twisted-pair cables for data integrity.
- Label all cables and terminate them securely.
4. Power Supply
- Use dedicated power supplies with surge protection.
-
Include a battery backup (UPS) for at least 4 hours runtime.
- Test voltage at all endpoints before commissioning.
5. System Configuration
- Assign unique IDs to users and configure access schedules.
- Define groups/zones and time-based access permissions.
- Integrate with CCTV or fire alarm systems if applicable.
- Enable audit logs and export settings for review.
6. Testing and Commissioning
- Test each reader, lock, and emergency exit function.
-
Confirm system responds correctly to access attempts and denials.
- Simulate power failure to test backup system.
-
Provide user training and hand over access cards or credentials.
7. Maintenance Guidelines
- Check readers, locks, and cables monthly.
-
Clean fingerprint sensors and inspect for signs of tampering.
- Update firmware regularly.
